Meet Chief Deputy County Clerk Bill Fairbrother
Bill Fairbrother is the Republican nominee for Williamson County Clerk and enjoys strong support across the political spectrum. Since becoming Chief Deputy County Clerk, he has gained considerable knowledge and experience not only in all aspects of the office, but also in working for the county.
He is an active member of, and received training from, organizations covering almost every aspect of the office, including the County & District Clerks Association of Texas (CDCAT), Urban Recorders Alliance (URA), National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA), Property Records Industry Association (PRIA), and National Association for Court Management (NACM). Bill is currently taking classes to complete the NAGARA Certificate Program, which recognizes government officials’ achievements in obtaining a knowledge base in Government Archives and Records Management, and was recently appointed to the PRIA Style Committee, which is responsible for reviewing and approving the association’s Style Guide and ensuring consistency in PRIA publications and work products.
The office is a ministerial, or administrative position, with no room for partisanship. The County Clerk faithfully follows the law, treats everyone with respect, and strives to deliver exceptional customer service. This is the only governmental office he will ever seek. Bill enjoys being a part of the County Clerk’s office, believes he has found his calling, and is prepared and qualified to effectively lead from day one. Early voting runs from October 19 to October 30, 2026, and election day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

In early November of 2025, our current County Clerk, Nancy Rister, declared that she would not be seeking reelection after more than 28 years of dedicated service, and endorsed Bill Fairbrother as her successor. Additional endorsements for Fairbrother have come from several key officials including Sheriff Matt Lindemann, District Clerk Lisa David, District Clerk-elect Cathy Mendoza, District Attorney Shawn Dick, and County Attorney Dee Hobbs. These individuals regularly interact with the County Clerk’s office at the Williamson County Justice Center and have expressed their confidence in Fairbrother’s qualifications for the role. Bill expressed his gratitude, stating that he is humbled and thankful for their support and trust.
Experience and Achievements
Fairbrother brings over three years of experience working in the Williamson County Clerk’s office. During this time, he established and now oversees the call center, a development that has led to increased productivity across all departments and improved customer service. For more than three years, he has served as Chief Deputy and as Executive Assistant to County Clerk Nancy Rister, gaining valuable leadership experience and insight into the office’s operations.
Goals and Commitment
Fairbrother has emphasized his commitment to a smooth transition in leadership should he be elected. He intends to collaborate closely with the office staff to ensure the consistency of daily operations is maintained. His passion for the work of the County Clerk’s office is clear, and he looks forward to continuing to provide exceptional service to the citizens of Williamson County. Ensuring the accurate, prompt, and correct handling of vital records, Court at Law records, Commissioners Court records, and other important responsibilities remains his primary objective.
Personal Background
Bill Fairbrother has been a resident of Williamson County since 1995 when he moved to Round Rock and bought a home. He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Baylor University and a Master of Arts in Mathematics from Indiana University. His professional background includes over twenty years in the technology industry including Dell and IBM, active involvement in political campaigns, and participation in several volunteer political roles and community organizations.
Interests
In his free time, Fairbrother enjoys reading, sightseeing, spending time with friends, his many hobbies, and attending community events. His hobbies include traveling, supporting and visiting museums, researching family genealogy, computers, reading, trivia, and collecting.
